Vardy scored twice, Iheanacho injured

LONDON: England striker Jamie Vardy scored twice when Leicester beat Borussia Moenchengladbach 2-1 in a pre-season stunted by Kelechi Iheanacho's injury early this morning.

Vardy scored in 67th and 74th minutes after Thorgan Hazard placed the German side ahead of the start of the second half.

Iheanacho, who bought 25 million pounds from Manchester City yesterday, made a move that allowed Vardy to blow up the winner but was replaced after a minor injury.

Leicester's manager, Craig Shakespeare, said the change of Nigerian striker Iheanacho was just a precautionary measure.

"We do not want him to suffer worse, so we choose a safe way," Shakespeare said. - AFP
